Sri Varaha Panchakam

Overview:
This short yet profound five-verse hymn was composed by Śrī Vādirāja Tīrtha, a saint of the Dvaita tradition. It glorifies Lord Bhū Varāha, the divine Boar incarnation of Vishnu, as the compassionate protector who upholds the Earth and removes all sin.

• Meaning (Essence):

1.
I bow to Lord Lakṣmī Nṛsiṁha — the source of Prahlāda’s joy, embodiment of bliss, destroyer of sin, wielder of the conch and discus, and slayer of the proud demon Hiraṇyakaśipu.

2.
Meditate upon the spotless Lord Varāha — holding Bhūdevī tenderly, resting His feet upon the coils of Ananta, and bearing the conch and discus to destroy lust and anger.

3.
Salutations to Kola Varāha — adorned with a forest garland, dark-hued and merciful, protector of His devotees.

4.
Having lifted the Earth, You rejoiced all gods and sages. Yet, O Lord, You conceal Your limitless power in humble grace.

5.
Homage to the Lord who conquers foes through divine wisdom — the Guru of all Gurus, the wish-fulfilling tree of seekers, the knower of all Vedas.
