Sri Parashurama Ashtavimshati Nama Stotram

    1.    The sage speaks — Lord Parashurama, a divine incarnation of Vasudeva, destroyed the Haihaya dynasty and made the Earth free of warriors twenty-one times.
    2.    He removed the burden of the Earth and annihilated unrighteous Kshatriyas who disrespected the Brahmanas. Now I shall recite his sacred names.
    3.    Born as a manifestation of Janardana to relieve the Earth’s burden, he is the Lord of creation, preservation, and dissolution.
    4.    The son of Jamadagni and Renuka, the obedient fulfiller of his father’s command, who restored his mother’s life — the destroyer of arrogant kings.
    5.    Rama, wielder of the axe, who slew Kartavirya Arjuna, remover of his mother’s grief, ever serene and sorrowless.
    6.    Dark as a raincloud, with lotus-red eyes, he is firm, wise, staff-bearing, and ever devoted to the Brahmanas.
    7.    A sage rich in austerity, peaceful and humble, praised by siddhas, gandharvas, and celestial beings.
    8.    He transcends birth, death, disease, and sorrow — the 28 names of this stotra bestow blessings and liberation to those who recite them with devotion.
    9.    This hymn pleases Lord Parashurama greatly, but should not be shared with the restless, faithless, or those lacking austerity.
    10.    It must not be told to the ignorant, deceitful, envious, or impure-hearted.
    11.    It should be taught only to a worthy disciple, devoted son, or faithful seeker — as a sacred and confidential teaching.
