Tripura Sundari Pratah Smaranam

The Tripura Sundari Pratah Smaranam is a gentle morning invocation meant to align the devotee with the Divine Mother at the very start of the day. The hymn praises Her lotus feet adored even by Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, acknowledging Her as the source from whom creation, preservation and dissolution arise. Her feet are so sacred that the water touching them becomes the holy Ganga on Shiva’s head. She is visualized with the pāsha, ankusha, bow and flower-arrows, glowing like the rising sun — a symbol of divine guidance at dawn.

The stotram teaches that remembering Her at sunrise brings clarity, protection and auspiciousness throughout the day. The Mother’s grace dispels fears, sorrow and the burdens of worldly life. Reciting the five verses daily grants the “ātma-pada” — inner awakening, devotion, and spiritual steadfastness.

The closing verses express total surrender: the devotee promises to follow the day’s duties only by Her command; asks protection from competition, fear and negligence; and admits the human weakness of knowing dharma yet failing to act. The prayer ends with a heartfelt request: “As You reside in my heart, guide me to act exactly as You will.”
