Sri Tripura Bhairavi stotram

Sri Tripura Bhairavi Stotram begins with Bhairava describing the greatness of the Goddess, whose subtle form remains unknown even to Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, and other cosmic beings. She is the beginningless source of the universe, the supreme Mother who manifests as both subtle consciousness and the gross form of beauty, grace, and compassion. Bhairava praises her as the essence of all speech and the Mother of all creation.

She shines with the brilliance of a thousand rising suns, holding symbols of knowledge, boons, and fearlessness. Her three eyes radiate lotus-like beauty, and her form adorned with ornaments like star-like necklaces symbolizes the cosmic rhythms. She is accessible only through accumulated merits of many past births.

The wise describe her in various ways—some as the gross form, others as the subtle essence, some as the origin of all creation. Yet, Bhairava sees her as an ocean of infinite compassion. She is the Goddess of fifty letters (Matrika), the embodiment of knowledge, holding scripture, rosary, and the pot of nectar in her lotus hands, radiating pure consciousness.

She is half the body of Shiva, the power of Vishnu adorned by Lakshmi, and the very foundation of Brahma’s speech. The creation, preservation, and dissolution of the universe are performed solely by her. She is the supreme divine energy hidden within every act of speech, thought, and perception.

The sages meditate on her by controlling breath, focusing the mind on the nose-tip, and visualizing her luminous form crowned with the crescent moon. She merges with Shiva to perform the creative functions of the cosmos. Without her presence, nothing in the universe could continue to exist.

In golden mountain caves, siddha yoginis, kinnaras, and divine women worship her lotus feet, singing hymns that reflect her nectar-like grace. She is lightning-like in brilliance, adorned with divine beauty, the very path of bliss leading to the city of Shiva. She is the embodiment of pure consciousness, the source of the Vedas, and the abode of prosperity.

She creates the world in the form of the moon, sustains it as the sun, and absorbs it as the fire of dissolution. She is praised as Narayani, Saraswati, Gauri, the remover of sorrow, the giver of wisdom—bearing three eyes filled with compassion and radiance.

Whoever recites these twelve verses with devotion attains speech perfection (vak-siddhi), supreme prosperity, spiritual upliftment, and the grace of the cosmic Mother. This hymn forms a part of the highly secret Bhairavi Panchanga and must be practiced with reverence, purity, and devotion.
