Meaning
Tripura Bhairavi Hridayam is a sacred hymn revealed when Goddess Parvati, dwelling on Mount Meru in deep meditation on Shiva, lovingly asks the Lord to teach her the supreme stotram of Bhairavi. Shiva replies that he will now reveal the Bhairavi Hridaya—the most auspicious, supremely sacred hymn that bestows all well-being. Merely hearing this hymn grants the fulfillment of all desires, and even without long meditation, Bhairavi becomes pleased with the devotee.
The stotra begins with the divine details of the mantra—its rishi, meter, deity, bija, shakti, and kilaka—showing its profound tantric origin. Through the karanyasa and anganyasa, Bhairavi’s sacred energies are installed in the devotee’s body, signifying total divine protection and empowerment.
In the dhyana, Bhairavi is meditated upon as the three-eyed cosmic mother, fierce like blazing fire in a demonic forest, yet radiant with red garments and divine ornaments. She is the Mother of the Three Worlds, glowing with moonlight, sindhoora, and the splendor of divine flames.
The following verses glorify her as the giver of dharma, the destroyer of sorrow, the light that removes the darkness of samsara, and the source of liberation. She carries garlands of serpents and skulls, symbolizing mastery over life and death. With sun, moon, and fire as her three eyes, she destroys evil forces and blesses devotees with fearlessness.

She breaks the darkness spread across directions and fills devotees with clarity, devotion, wisdom, and spiritual power. Her lotus-like face enchants even the chakora birds that long to drink the moonlight from her forehead.

They shine with spiritual brilliance, remain undefeated in all three worlds, and receive unbroken prosperity and happiness.
