Sri Chandramouleesha Stotram

The Sri Chandramouleesha Stotram is a gentle and profound hymn praising Shiva as “Chandramouleesha,” the Lord who adorns the crescent moon on His matted hair. This stotram expresses Shiva’s compassion, His ability to grant power, wisdom, and liberation, and His readiness to bless all devotees who surrender to Him.

The first verse praises Shiva as the embodiment and revealer of Omkara, the primal sound. He grants divine energy and upliftment to His devotees. Bowing to Chandramouleesha removes fear and grants inner radiance.

The second verse highlights His lotus-like feet that remove ego and bless gods and humans alike. He is the giver of desired boons, compassionate and ever generous.

The third verse states that those who meditate upon His lotus feet quickly attain great spiritual accomplishments and prosperity. His grace removes misfortune and instability.

The fourth verse praises His blue throat, moon–sun-like eyes, and the worship offered by Brahma and Vishnu. He is the supreme benefactor, removing difficulties and protecting devotees constantly.

The fifth verse describes Shiva as the One beyond words and mind — the ultimate reality approached by scriptures alone. The Vedas constantly glorify Him.

The sixth verse states that devotees of His lotus feet receive all four Purusharthas — Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha — as He brings joy to His devotees and blesses their devotees in return.

The final verse states that reciting this hymn containing the essence of the Panchakshari mantra grants firm devotion, worldly prosperity, and ultimate liberation.
