Sri Balarama Kavacham

1.    Duryodhana prays to Sage Garga: “O wise one, grant me the sacred Balarama Kavacham which you once gave to the gopis — it grants divine protection.”
    2.    Sage Pradvipaka replies: One should bathe, wear clean cloth, sit on sacred kusa grass, purify oneself, and meditate upon Lord Balarama before reciting this kavacham.
    3.    May Lord Balarama, the ruler of Goloka and the supreme protector, guard me on this Earth.
    4.    In battles, may Haladhara (the plough-bearer) protect me; in fortresses, Musalidhara (the mace-holder); in forests, Sankarshana, the primal Lord.
    5.    In rivers, fire, wind, sky, and the great ocean — may Ananta-form Balarama always shield me.
    6.    On mountains, may Vasudeva guard me; in disputes, the Thousand-Headed One; in diseases, Rauhineya; and in calamities, Kamapala protect me.
    7.    From lust, anger, greed, and delusion — may the slayer of Dhenuka, Dvivida, Balvala, and Jarasandha protect me always.
    8.    In the morning, may the noble Vrisni protect me; by noon, the Lord of Mathura; in the afternoon, the friend of Gopas; and in the evening, the radiant King.
    9.    At dusk and midnight, may the serpent-lord Balarama protect me; at dawn, may the Supreme Being safeguard me always.
    10.    In all directions, above and below, within and without — may Lord Baladeva, the consort of Revati, protect me completely.
    11.    May the Supreme Soul dwell within me, guarding me from inside and outside; may the Lord of infinite strength always stay within my heart.
    12.    This Balarama Kavacham destroys fears, burns sins, removes obstacles, and grants strength, peace, and divine protection.
