Deva Krita Shiva Stotram

In this hymn, the Devas glorify Lord Shiva as the supreme God of gods, the three-eyed one, and the eternal master of the universe. They praise Him as Virupaksha with infinite cosmic vision, bearing matted locks and fiery reddish-golden eyes. He is surrounded by spirits and beings, adorned with serpents, and displaying the terrifying yet protective form of Dhurjjati.

Shiva, who once destroyed the teeth of Pushan and the eyes of Bhaga, is the lord of all elements and the bearer of the bull-symbol. He is the future destroyer of Tripura and the slayer of Andhaka. As the resident of Kailasa and wearer of the tiger skin, He shines in His yogic majesty.

He is Bhairava with hair rising upwards, the fierce form more powerful than flames, crowned with the crescent moon. He performs the Kapalika vows, destroyed the pride of the Daru-forest sages, and wields weapons such as the trident, staff, and the blazing fire of dissolution.

Shiva is the embodiment of the Vedas, the form of sacrifice itself, and the one who destroyed Daksha’s yajna for the sake of dharma. As Vishveshwara and Mahadeva, He protects the universe and grants boons out of compassion. The hymn concludes with Shiva saying: “Tell me what you desire—whatever I do shall be done,” revealing His grace toward the Devas.
