Sri Vishnu Stuti (Vipra Krutam)

The Sri Vishnu Stuti (composed by a learned Brahmin) is a powerful hymn glorifying Lord Vishnu through His countless names, divine qualities, and universal forms. The hymn begins by addressing Him as the Lord of lords, beloved of devotees, the ocean of compassion, and the mighty Nanda’s son. Names like Govinda, Achyuta, Krishna, Vasudeva, and Sarvadhyaksha reveal His nature as the protector, witness, and inner ruler of all beings.

The stotra praises Him as eternal, infinite, the primal seed, the source of creation, and the One who resides in every heart. He is the embodiment of truth, consciousness, and bliss; the destroyer of sins; the master of time; the giver of all desired blessings. He is peaceful, self-controlled, and victorious, the Lord of the universe who pervades everything.

Further, He is Srihari, the bearer of Lakshmi, Hrishikesha the controller of senses, and Mokshadayi the giver of liberation. He is Purushottama, Padmanabha, the radiant One, the foremost among all, the slayer of demons, and the protector of devotees. As Narasimha, He destroys evil; as Jnana, He is both knowledge and the giver of knowledge; as Narayana, He is the supreme refuge.

The stotra concludes by praising Him as Damodara, Kesava, Sankarshana, the guardian of the three worlds, and the destroyer of all distress. Finally the devotee prays: “O Vishnu, Lord of compassion, who appears in many forms—please protect me.”
