Sri Vishnu Nama Stotram (Narasimha Purane)

This “Vishnu Nama Stotram” from the Narasimha Purana is a magnificent hymn in which Lord Mahadeva himself praises the countless divine names of Lord Vishnu. The hymn glorifies Vishnu as the supreme cause of creation, the protector of the universe, the destroyer of evil, and the eternal refuge of all beings.

The opening verses describe Him as Vishnu, Jishnu, Vibhu—the omnipresent Lord who initiates creation, preserves it, and dissolves it. He is the soul of all worlds, the protector, the controller of cosmic laws. He is Keshava, the slayer of Kesi; Vamana, the Lord who humbled pride; Madhusudana, Narayana, and the great Varaha who rescued the earth.

Vishnu is the radiant one, the auspicious one, the lotus-eyed Vaikuntha, adored by gods and sages. As Narasimha, He is the fierce destroyer of demons; as Garudadhvaja, He is the protector of devotees. He is Govinda, Gopati, Gopala—the nourisher of all beings. Padmanabha, Hrishikesha, Damodara—all reflect His divine compassion and cosmic power.

He is the beloved of devotees, the truth, the pure, the remover of sins, the increaser of peace. As Badrinilaya, Mandaragiri-ketana, and the embodiment of spiritual tapas, He is the inner light of yogis. Vishnu is the supreme Purusha, the full and complete reality, the knower of ancient wisdom and the giver of merit.

He bears all weapons—conch, discus, mace, bow, plough, club, sword—symbolizing protection and dharma. He is the victor, the slayer of foes, the one who blesses with peace and auspiciousness. He is swarga-giver, wish-fulfiller, giver of wealth, glory, and liberation.

The stotram ends declaring that He alone is Yajna, Vashatkara, Omkara, the sacred fire, Swaha, Swadha, and the divine nectar. He is eternal, infinite, immeasurable, and is praised through these countless names which reflect His boundless glory.

This hymn is a complete spiritual armor that strengthens devotion, removes negativity, and connects the seeker to the supreme Vishnu-consciousness.
