Meaning
️⃣ I bow to the Supreme Brahman — pure, formless, desireless, beyond attributes and beyond thought, the essence of Om and the goal of the Vedas.
️⃣ He is pure, auspicious, peaceful, infinite, the life of the universe, the blissful light that transcends time and space.
️⃣ I meditate on the Lord seated upon the yogic throne — shining within the eight-petaled lotus of Om, amidst the radiance of fire, the essence of the elements.
️⃣ His brilliance equals billions of suns and moons, neither hot nor cold, golden-hued, ever-blissful consciousness.
️⃣ His nose is elegant, his brows gentle, hair soft and curly, eyes like full-bloom lotuses, ears adorned with precious jewels.
️⃣ His cheeks glow with earrings, lips red as hibiscus, smiling graciously; His chest bears Kaustubha and fragrant garlands.
️⃣ His four arms shine with golden ornaments; clad in yellow silk, His feet rest on blooming lotuses.
️⃣ He who meditates thus, restraining his senses, crosses the ocean of worldly existence and attains the Supreme beyond reach.
️⃣ To Vishnu, Lord of three worlds, ever pleased with His consorts Lakshmi and Bhudevi, I bow.
️⃣ All worldly possessions — body, wife, children, wealth, and friends — will one day be left behind. Only the soul journeys onward.
️⃣ When the body weakens, blood dries, and life wanes, O merciful Lord, do not abandon me.
️⃣ As breath becomes labored and death draws near, my heart trembles. O Vishnu, be gracious.
️⃣ At that moment, as I chant “Achyuta, Ananta, Govinda, Vishnu, Murare, Narayana,” may You take me into Your grace.
️⃣ Whoever chants this hymn with devotion and focus upon You, O Murari, attains liberation through Your grace.
