Sri Narahari Ashtakam

Composed by Sri Vadiraja Tirtha, this eight-verse hymn invokes Lord Nrisimha as “Narahari” — the fierce yet compassionate protector of devotees, destroyer of evil, and embodiment of divine justice.

1️⃣ “O Narahari, whatever is auspicious for Your devotees, do that swiftly; You are all-knowing, blazing like the cosmic sun at dissolution.”
2️⃣ With fierce brows, fiery eyes, and a blazing mouth, You destroy the enemies of dharma — O Lord, remove all evil.
3️⃣ With uplifted ears and wide, fearsome face, destroy my enemies and their wickedness.
4️⃣ O radiant Lord with sharp claws and fiery fangs, roar and annihilate the wicked.
5️⃣ You hold the universe within Your being; Your waist gleams like lightning — destroy all enemies and protect the world.
6️⃣ You who tore open Hiranyakashipu’s chest, now tear away my inner enemies — pride, anger, and ignorance.
7️⃣ Worshipped by Brahma, Shiva, Indra, and the celestials, O Lord Nrisimha, destroy all obstacles in my path.
8️⃣ O roaring Lion of dharma, with thunderous voice and blazing form, annihilate all evil — O Narahari, Hara, protect me always.
