Sri Lakshmi Hayagreeva Pancharatnam

Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva Pancharatnam, composed by Vedanta Desika, is a set of five precious verses praising the combined divinity of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Hayagriva—the embodiment of pure knowledge, prosperity, compassion, and divine brilliance. These verses present Hayagriva as the purifier of the mind and Lakshmi as the eternal bestower of fortune.

The first verse describes Lord Hayagriva as the pure embodiment of knowledge and bliss, capable of removing the impurities of Kali Yuga. Goddess Lakshmi arises from the Ocean of Milk, seated on a spotless white lotus, blessing devotees with prosperity, radiance, and auspiciousness.

The second verse praises Lakshmi as radiant like crystal, adorned with nectar-like brilliance, and honored by sages and gods alike. Her intimate union with Hayagriva symbolizes the union of knowledge and prosperity, and her vow to protect devotees with unwavering compassion.

The third verse describes Hayagriva as the destroyer of darkness and as the essence of the Vedas. With His hands holding the sacred book and the gesture of exposition, He dispels ignorance, clears obstacles, and establishes divine knowledge in the hearts of seekers.

The fourth verse salutes the Lord as worshipped by celestial beings adorned with countless gem-filled crowns. He is eternally adored by the great preceptors—Ramanuja, the Brahmatantra tradition, and other revered teachers who hail Him as the supreme source of wisdom.

The fifth verse proclaims that the divine name “Sri Hayagriva” itself grants knowledge, purity, peace, and mastery of learning. It removes the burning afflictions of worldly life and blesses devotees with inner clarity and auspicious progress.

This Pancharatnam stands as a hymn of enlightenment, prosperity, spiritual victory, and divine grace.
