Sri Garuda Kavacham

The Garuda Kavacham is a powerful protective hymn revealed by Sage Narada, invoking the divine protection of Garuda, the mighty eagle and vehicle of Lord Vishnu. Each verse assigns a form of Garuda to safeguard different parts of the body—head, eyes, ears, heart, arms, legs, skin, and more. Garuda is praised as the destroyer of serpents, the remover of poison, the strong and powerful son of Vinata, worshipped by the gods, radiant, swift, and ever-victorious.

The kavacham declares that Garuda’s nails, wings, beak, and divine energy shield the devotee from danger. Simply remembering Him removes fear, poison, evil influences, and unseen harms. Reciting this protective armor in the morning destroys the effects of poison. Reciting three times daily frees one from mental and physical bondages. Chanting it for twelve days breaks enemy-related obstacles. Even a single recitation removes accumulated sins. Thus, the hymn acts like a “Vajra-Panjara”—a diamond armor of divine protection, ensuring safety, freedom, and spiritual upliftment.
