Sankashta Nashana Vishnu Stotram

This sacred hymn from the Skanda Purana, known as “Sankashta Nashana Sri Vishnu Stotram,” describes how the gods, frightened by the return of demonic forces, approach Lord Vishnu for protection. Overwhelmed with fear, all the devas begin praising Vishnu, acknowledging His countless forms taken for the welfare of the universe.

They bow to Him as the One who assumes various incarnations like Matsya and Kurma, the remover of distress, and the protector of all creation. Vishnu is hailed as the Master of creation, preservation, and dissolution, holding the mace, conch, and lotus, and eternally ready to help His devotees.

He is the beloved consort of Lakshmi, the destroyer of demons, clothed in yellow silk, and riding upon the divine serpent. His divine form resting on the serpent-bed with sun-and-moon-like eyes is praised as the refuge of the worlds.

The phalaśruti concludes that whoever recites this stotram will never be afflicted by difficulties, as Lord Hari Himself removes all obstacles from the devotee’s path.
