Sri Saraswatyashtakam

1.    May Goddess Saraswati, pure and revered by the entire universe, adorned with lotus garlands and radiant like moonlight, protect us always.
    2.    Embodiment of all letters and sounds, adorned with gold and gems, bright and white as pure crystal — may Bharati guard us.
    3.    Holding the rosary, book, and showing gestures of blessing and protection, seated gracefully on a lotus — may Saraswati protect us.
    4.    Fair, gentle-faced, lotus-dwelling, charming and serene like the jasmine flower — may She bless us with peace and clarity.
    5.    Bearing a pot marked with rudraksha, bestower of auspiciousness and welfare — may the blessed-eyed Saraswati safeguard us.
    6.    Dressed in red silk, decked with jewels, the sweet-voiced goddess dwelling in the hearts of devotees — may Saraswati be our refuge.
    7.    The consort of Brahma, personification of the four Vedas, four-armed and granter of dharma, artha, kama, and moksha — may She bless us.
    8.    Worshipped by all beings, moon-faced, dwelling upon every tongue — may Saraswati, the ever-pure goddess of speech, protect us forever.
    9.    He who recites this hymn every morning with devotion becomes free from ignorance and gains wisdom and honour among the wise.
