Sri Hanuman Mangala Ashtakam

The “Sri Hanuman Mangalashtakam” is an auspicious eight-verse hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman, invoking his blessings for protection, peace, spiritual strength and prosperity. Each verse beautifully highlights a unique divine quality, form or deed of Hanuman, establishing him as the source of auspiciousness (mangalam) for devotees.

The hymn recalls Hanuman’s birth on an auspicious Vaishakha Krishna Dashami, marking him as a divine bringer of welfare. It praises his compassion-filled nature, jewel-adorned glory, and his love for simple offerings. His divine form—golden in hue, wearing yellow garments, radiant with sanctity—brings peace and purity to the surroundings.

It venerates him as the protector of devotees, the remover of Sita’s sorrow, the one who brings balance to creation, the wanderer of celestial groves, and the lord of all worlds. Hanuman appears in many forms—four-armed, five-faced, warrior, destroyer of demons, and eternal servant of Lord Rama. He is described as the foremost among Vanaras, the son of Kesari, and the one who tirelessly searched for Sita.
