Meaning

1–3.
Lord Dakshinamurti said: “O Parvati, I will teach you the sacred mantra of Goddess Annapurna — the Mistress of Nourishment and Learning.
Merely hearing it destroys poverty.
The mantra: Om Māyā Śrī Kāṁ Namaḥ Bhagavati Māheśwari Annapūrṇe Vahni-dayite — is supreme.”

4–5.
The sage (ṛṣi) of the mantra is Brahma, its meter (chandas) is Gāyatrī,
and the presiding deity is Annapūrṇeśwari.
Its seed is Māyā, its power (śakti) is Lakṣmī, and its key (kīlaka) is Madana.

6–7.
Meditate upon the Goddess — red-hued, adorned with golden garments,
crowned with the crescent moon, ever feeding the world.
She holds a golden vessel filled with milk and rice in one hand, and a mirror in another,
dancing with divine grace that removes all suffering.

8–10.
After such meditation, one should chant this mantra one hundred thousand times.
Then perform fire offerings with food as oblation — success in the mantra is assured.
Wealth equal to Kubera’s will be attained.

11–13.
Daily recitation upon food ensures abundance forever.
The devotee enjoys prosperity here and liberation hereafter — never touched by poverty or sorrow.

14–17.
Offering Palasha flowers grants divine radiance; offering milk grants growth in cattle and wealth.
One who recites this mantra never meets suffering, fear, or scarcity.
By performing great offerings, one attains all desires, even the rarest.

18.
Thus ends the practice of the Annapurna Mantra Stavaḥ,
which fulfills all wishes of the devoted.
